Laura Ingraham echoes Hannity, hits Shep Smith for ‘inconsiderate and inaccurate’ comments

Fox News host Laura Ingraham called chief anchor Shepard Smith “inconsiderate and inaccurate” on Friday regarding comments he made in a recent issue of Time magazine that the opinion side of the network doesn’t “really have rules” and exists “strictly to be entertaining.”

“Always liked Shep, but his comments were inconsiderate & inaccurate. The hard working team at the Ingraham Angle does real reporting, develops impt sources and scores big interviews. Very proud of them,” Ingraham wrote to her 2.13 million followers.

Ingraham’s public criticism of Smith, who joined the network upon its launch 22 years ago, comes on the heels of a Sean Hannity tweet that also took exception to Smith’s portrayal of the editorial side of the network. {mosads}

“While Shep is a friend with political views I do not share, and great at breaking news, he is clueless about what we do every day,” Hannity responded Friday, defending his show as one that “breaks news daily.”

Hannity has hit the Fox News chief anchor and managing editor before. In July 2017, he called Smith “so anti-Trump.”

“Shep is a friend, I like him, but he’s so anti-Trump,” said Hannity, a staunch supporter of the president. “He went off on a rant last week. That’s fine, but [the opinion is] different.”

Smith slammed Trump the week prior to Hannity’s comments, saying on his program “Shepard Smith Reports” that the administration is “constant[ly] flip-flopping between narratives” on the Donald Trump Jr. meeting with a Russian lawyer that took place in June 2016.

In response to Hannity’s remarks, Smith told Mediaite at the time that, “Sometimes facts are displeasing,” adding, “journalists report them without fear or favor.”
