Frances McDormand asks women to stand during Oscar acceptance

Frances McDormand shared her Oscars win on Sunday with all the female nominees in every category, asking them to stand during her acceptance speech.

“I’d be so honored to have all the female nominees in every category stand with me in this room tonight,” the “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” star, who won in the award for Best Actress, said as she accepted the statue.

As women throughout the audience rose, McDormand named their various roles. “The filmmakers, the producers, the directors, the writers, the cinematographers, the composers, the songwriters, the designers — come on!” she said.

“Okay, look around everybody! Look around, ladies and gentlemen!” McDormand said excitedly. “Because we all have stories to tell and projects we need financed.”

“I have two words to leave with you tonight, ladies and gentlemen: inclusion rider,” McDormand, 60, said.

Following her speech, Academy Awards host Jimmy Kimmel said, “I really hope Frances McDormand gets an Emmy for the speech she gave at the Oscars.”

“I wish I was a woman,” Kimmel cracked. “I really do.”
