YouTube suspends ads on Logan Paul videos

YouTube is suspending ads on videos posted by Logan Paul, the video blogging star, citing his “pattern of behavior” in recent controversial videos.

{mosads}“After careful consideration, we have decided to temporarily suspend ads on Logan Paul’s YouTube channels,” YouTube said in a statement. “This is not a decision we made lightly, however, we believe he has exhibited a pattern of behavior in his videos that makes his channel not only unsuitable for advertisers, but also potentially damaging to the broader creator community.”

The company said it made the decision because it feels his videos are unsuitable for brands and violate its advertiser guidelines.

The suspension could cost Paul a significant amount of money. According to one estimate, Paul earns over $14 million a year from his videos.

YouTube pointed to a video Paul posted on Monday that showed him tasering dead rats and Paul encouraging his fans to do the Tide Pod challenge, an internet meme that involves individuals swallowing laundry detergent. Authorities have tried to put a stop to the dangerous trend after a number of teenagers have been hospitalized.

It isn’t the first time Paul has sparked controversy. The taser video was one of his first following a brief hiatus from posting videos.

In December, Paul sparked a firestorm after posting a video of a suicide victim in Japan’s Aokigahara forest, known as a location that attracts people considering suicide.

Paul eventually apologized for the video and resumed video blogging.

YouTube, the Google-owned video streaming platform, had previously taken action against Paul by removing his videos from “Google Preferred,” which lets companies post advertisements on the videos of YouTube’s top 5 percent of content creators. It has also stalled other projects it had planned to complete with him.
