Twitter users slam Tomi Lahren for defending Trump’s ‘s—hole countries’ remark

Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren caught a great deal of pushback on Friday after she defended President Trump in a tweet Friday for reportedly calling Haiti, El Salvador and certain African nations “shithole countries.”

In a Thursday meeting with lawmakers, Trump asked why the U.S. let in so many immigrants from “shithole countries,” as first reported by The Washington Post, saying more should be brought in from countries like Norway.

Lahren joined several other conservative media personalities defending Trump for the remark.

{mosads}Fox News host Jesse Watters argued that the “forgotten men and women” who make up Trump’s base would approve of the comment, and Tucker Carlson asked why Trump’s remark was being treated as a “major event” because Trump swears “all the time.”

Social media users slammed Lahren for her defense.

In a series of tweets Friday, Trump denied saying “anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country” and said that while he used “tough language” in the meeting with lawmakers, “this was not the language used.”
