N.H. Rep. Infantine Considers Challenge to Shea-Porter

New Hampshire State Rep. Will Infantine (R) will soon decide whether to challenge Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D) for her seat, just as she considers a run for Senate.

Infantine told PolitickerNH that he’ll decide “within two or three months” whether to run for Shea-Porter’s seat.

“There’s a lot of discussions that need to be had with certain people, with family and business obligations,” he told the website.

Infantine is also the chairman of Republican Party in Manchester, the state’s largest city. Infantine said he doesn’t agree with Shea-Porter’s economic views.

“As a voter and taxpayer in the 1st Congressional District, I just do not belief in Carol Shea-Porter’s core principles are consistent with the people,” he told the website. “Now given she’s been elected twice, so that might be an arrogant statement, but I think that there’s a lot of things that went on in the last two elections that were anomalies and that 2010 will be a good year and a swing back year for Republicans.”

Shea-Porter has won two close races against former Rep. Jeb Bradley (R) in the state’s first congressional district, which is slightly less Democratic than Rep. Paul Hodes’s (D-N.H.) district. Politicker reported earlier that Shea-Porter is looking at challenging Sen. Judd Gregg (R) for his seat in 2010. Other possible Democratic candidates include Hodes and popular Gov. John Lynch.
