Eric Trump compares ‘Pocahontas’ insult to Disney profiting off ‘Pocahontas’ movie

Eric Trump on Tuesday appeared to compare President Trump’s comments calling Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) “Pocahontas” to Disney profiting off of a movie of the same name.

“The irony of an ABC reporter (whose parent company Disney has profited nearly half a billion dollars on the movie ‘Pocahontas’) inferring that the name is ‘offensive’ is truly staggering to me,” Eric Trump tweeted Tuesday.

{mosads}His comments come after Trump called Warren “Pocahontas” during an event honoring Navajo Code Talkers.

During the event honoring three Navajos who helped the U.S. Marine Corps develop a secret code during WWII, Trump said: “You were here long before any of us were here.”

“Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas,” he said.

Trump has repeatedly used the derisive nickname when talking about Warren, a reference to her claim of Native American heritage.

Following his comments Monday, ABC News reporter Jon Karl asked White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders: “Why did he feel the need to say something that is offensive to many people while honoring the Navajo Code Talkers, these genuine American heroes?”

Sanders defended Trump’s comments, saying the term “Pocahontas” isn’t a racial slur.

“I think what most people find offensive is Sen. Warren lying about her heritage to advance her career,” she told reporters.
