Leahy Leads Gov. Douglas in 2010 Senate Poll

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) fares well against Gov. Jim Douglas (R) in a Research 2000 poll of their potential 2010 Senate race.

Leahy gets 58 percent of the support of likely voters while Douglas receives 36 percent. The survey was conducted for Daily Kos.

Douglas, who is in his fourth term as governor, is relatively popular for a Republican in a blue state — his approval rating is 52 percent and his disapproval rating is 41 percent. But Leahy is even more popular, winning the approval of 63 percent of likely voters.
