Bannon in regular contact with Kid Rock about potential Senate bid: report

Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon is reportedly talking to musician Kid Rock about a potential run for Senate in Michigan, according to RealClear Politics.

A source familiar with their conversations told RealClear Politics that Bannon and the musician, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, are in regular phone contact about Ritchie possibly challenging Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.).

Ritchie has been teasing a run for Senate for months. In July, he tweeted out a poll showing himself ahead of Stabenow in a 2018 match-up, and created a “campaign site” that has so far sent users to his merchandise page through Warner Bros. Records.

{mosads}He also called out Stabenow in a statement on Twitter in July, saying Americans were “sick and tired” of “bullshit” from politicians.

“I concede she is better at playing politics than I am so I’ll keep doing what I do best, which is being a voice for tax paying, hardworking AMERICANS and letting politicians like her know that We the People are sick and tired of their bullshit!” Ritchie wrote.

A poll conducted in September shows Ritchie trailing by double digits in a hypothetical match-up.

Last week, Bannon declared a “season of war” on Republican lawmakers and vowed to take on the “GOP establishment” in the 2018 midterms.

The Breitbart News executive declared an early victory last month after backing former judge Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate GOP runoff. Moore defeated Sen. Luther Strange, who was backed by Trump and congressional Republicans.

Moore’s insurgent victory has Breitbart and Bannon expanding their target list for 2018, with the group now turning its attention to election fights in nearly a dozen other states, including Nevada, Arizona, Tennessee, Mississippi, Utah, West Virginia, Nebraska, Montana and Wisconsin.
