Drug Enforcement chief to step down: report
The acting head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has indicated he will resign by the end of the week, suggesting issues between himself and President Trump, The New York Times reports.
Officials told the Times that Chuck Rosenberg believes Trump has little respect for the law, despite Trump’s claims on the campaign trail of being the “law and order” candidate.
Rosenberg, who is a holdover from the Obama administration, previously served as chief of staff to former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired in May.
The DEA chief clashed with Trump over the president’s comments to law enforcement officers in Long Island in July that police should not be “too nice” when handling crime suspects.

Rosenberg sent a departmentwide memo telling employees not to be rough with suspects in the wake of Trump’s remarks.
The DEA head also made clear to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that he did not want to become the permanent head of the DEA in July.
Rosenberg told Rosenstein that he would not consider taking any other position in the Justice Department, the Times reported.
