Anheuser-Busch brewery to send extra water to Harvey victims

An Anheuser-Busch brewery in Georgia will halt its beer production on Labor Day to send more drinking water to the victims of Tropical Storm Harvey, the company announced on Wednesday.

The brewery, located in Cartersville, Ga., will also send an additional 255,000 cans of water this week to Houston, Arlington and Corpus Christi, as the storm continues to batter Texas.

“Putting our production and logistics strengths to work is the best way we can help in these situations,” said Bill Bradley, the brewing company’s vice president of community affairs. 

“Having successfully delivered three truckloads of clean, safe drinking water, when we received the request for additional shipments of water, we were happy to be able to help,” he said. “By pausing our production line to produce more emergency drinking water, we are ensuring that we are always ready to support American communities in need.”

The brewery on Monday sent more than 155,000 cans of drinking water to Texas and Louisiana.

Harvey, which first made landfall Friday as a Category 4 hurricane, has claimed the lives of at least 30 people as of Wednesday, according to The New York Times.
