Sessions: Trump’s attacks on me were ‘hurtful’

Attorney General Jeff Sessions says that President Trump’s criticisms of him are “kind of hurtful.”

Sessions said in an interview with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson that the attacks against him are hurtful but that he still considers Trump “a strong leader.”

“He is determined to move this country in the direction that he believes it needs to go to make it great again,” Sessions said. “And he has had a lot of criticism and he’s steadfast determined to get his job done and he wants all of us to do our job and that’s what I intend to do.”

{mosads}Sessions has repeatedly said that he will stay in his position despite Trump’s continued public attacks.

Trump said last week that he is “very disappointed” Sessions’s decision to recuse himself from the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian election interference, adding that he would have never hired Sessions if he knew he would recuse himself.

The full interview between Carlson and Sessions will air Thursday on Fox. Sessions is currently in El Salvador to work on the administration’s efforts against the MS-13 gang.
