Obama tickets sold out in 30 minutes
Tickets for the first fundraiser featuring President Obama are making hotcake sales look slow by comparison.
A source at the Democratic National Committee tells The Hill that $100 tickets for the March 25 event at the Warner Theater in Washington sold out in just 30 minutes, a pace so fast that the DNC is considering boosting the number of $1,000 tickets available to the public.
Tickets for the event, which will benefit the cash-strapped DNC, range from $100 to $2,500. The 700 tickets at the cheapest level sold faster than the party expected, the source said.
It’s not the first time tickets to something Obama-related have sold out fast. During his inauguration, $25 tickets for the 5,000 bleacher seats made available for Obama’s parade route sold out in under one minute, according to TicketMaster, which sold the tickets.
Tickets to the fundraiser are selling so quickly that even some congressional staffers, who had hoped to get into the event for free given their association with their bosses, are being turned away.
