Poll: Americans believe world leaders view Obama positively

As President Obama heads abroad on Tuesday, a new poll shows that a majority of Americans believe the president is well respected by world leaders.

The CNN/Opinion Research Poll released Tuesday found that seven in 10 respondents think world leaders hold Obama in high regard. More than eight in 10 also said that Obama will represent the country well on the world stage.

CNN also included this tidbit comparing Obama’s numbers to former President George W. Bush:

That last figure is in sharp contrast with George W. Bush. At the start of his presidency in 2001, only 49 percent believed that foreign leaders respected Bush.

The poll was conducted March 12 to 15 and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
