The National Rifle Association has announced a new insurance product aimed at their millions of members to provide liability in the case of a member shooting another person.

Politico reports that the NRA announced the new plan, called Carry Guard, at its annual conference last month. The liability insurance would protect gun owners from incurring expenses after shooting someone.

“We live in a litigious society,” Josh Powell, chief of staff and executive director of general operations for the NRA, told Politico. “The bad guys come to your house and you gotta use your gun and then you end up paying a hundred thousand dollars to protect yourself.”

{mosads}The Carry Guard website warns potential customers of the perils of the legal system following a shooting.

“I want you to think of it this way. There is a whole team of lawyers attached to every bullet that leaves the barrel of your weapon,” Curriculum Development Director James Jarrett says in a training video. “If the suspect goes down, even if you’re justified in shooting, I guarantee you the world is going to come crashing down on you.”

Carry Guard is now available in all 50 states. Applicants don’t have to provide any information about themselves to receive a quote. The policy has bronze, silver and gold tiers of coverage, maxing out at $360 per year. The different rates are not dependent on how many guns a person owns or their level of gun training, according to Politico.

The NRA plays a large role in national politics, with President Trump speaking at the organization’s annual conference last month.

“The eight-year assault on your Second Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end. You have a true friend and champion in the White House,” Trump said to the attendees in April.
