FBI probe needs real investigators, not politicians

As we say in my industry, “full disclosure,” I am not a politician.

I am a retired detective and a current forensic investigator.

Therefore, the context of this article will be from the standpoint of an investigator whose advocacy is a search for the truth.

Wednesday morning, I eagerly awaited with coffee in hand yet another interview of FBI Director James Comey by the Senate oversight committee tasked with the investigation of any possible links between the Russians and President Trump’s administration and any possibility that their actions impacted Hillary Clinton’s candidacy and the election.

{mosads}As an investigator, forensic facts are important to me. I am sort of a TV’s old Dragnet’s Joe Friday “Just the facts, ma’am” kind of professional. Probably much like most Americans, I actually care and want to know the truth about what has been happening in my country during the past two years, with these allegations of Russian collusion with our election being spun and tossed around by the Democrats and forwarded by the mainstream media.

Enter the U.S. Senate’s Intelligence Oversight Committee charged with the responsibility of “investigating” the circumstances and as a trier of fact, determining the facts and forensic evidence as to any collusion between operatives of the Russian government and members of the pre-election Trump team; Hillary Clinton’s candidacy and the election; breaches of the public trust and/or criminal activity.

Next enter the deponent Comey.

The interviewing of a percipient witness is a relatively straightforward matter. First, develop meaningful probative questions designed to discover, isolate and focus upon pertinent circumstances, facts and forensic evidence. Next, ask the questions in a logical manner so you can walk the witness down the road of discovery and evidence.

Finally, while obtaining the evidence from your witness, ask additional questions of clarification and then seek to reconcile the witness’ statements with the known circumstances, facts and forensic evidence to see whether their statements, or the statements of persons of interests in your investigations are supported by that evidence.

That’s how it’s done in the real world of investigations.

Unfortunately, the world of politics and politicians is far different from the world of forensic investigations. That’s why we have agencies such as the FBI, NSA, CIA and fourteen other investigative agencies in the federal forensic investigations and intelligence community.

As witnessed on TV today (I watch FOX News), our politicians have no real interest in searching for any truths. All they want to really do is play to the camera, bluster, posture against each other while asking political advocacy questions.

Their presence on camera in what should be a formal, meaningful investigative inquiry benefitting the American people, is nothing short of an embarrassing and boring waste of time, money and investigative resources.

What did I learn today from watching the tedious process of interviewing FBI Director Comey? Absolutely nothing and that’s a national shame. These idiot senators and congressmen work for us.

Their duty is to us and they continue to seriously breach their duty and break trust with us. They have become the ruling elite and because of this and their political immunities, nothing will ever change that truly benefits the American people unless there is political “revolution” to affect change in our overly burdensome governmental system.

Real change in our political system begins with each of us. The next time you watch any televised investigative committee and see such stonewalling and political posturing, take time to write down the names, political affiliations and political districts of the offenders. Next, find their email and mailing addresses and write to them expressing your concerns.

Next, if they are in your district; don’t vote for them again and donate to their party opponents. If they are not in your voting district and you really don’t like them; donate to their political opponents, then write to the offending senator or congressman and tell them what you did and why.

Together, let us make a unified, concerted effort to drain the swamp of these self-important, idiotic elitists who have forgotten who their masters are. America’s future is in our hands. Let’s not waste this opportunity.
