Biden schedule sets off 2020 speculation

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s upcoming schedule is spawning speculation about whether he will make a bid for the White House in 2020. 

Biden’s forthcoming schedule, detailed in a new article in Politico, contains a variety of Democratic fundraisers and various commencement speeches.

Aides to Biden said the driving force behind his schedule is to stay engaged as the Democratic Party retools following the November presidential election loss.

{mosads}“He doesn’t sit still well,” one adviser to Biden told the news outlet. “He wants to have a voice. The more stuff he does like this, the more people hear his voice.”

Another source, who raised money for former President Barack Obama, said he has “heard nothing” about Biden’s future plans. 

“It’s not real until they start calling the major bundlers. Right now, they’re just going around having fun being in demand,” that source added. 

Biden on Friday appeared at his alma mater, the University of Delaware, as the school’s new Biden Institute hosted its first panel on corporations and the middle class.

Biden, who will be 77 when the Iowa caucuses roll around in 2020, will also helm the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C.

Biden heads to Manchester, N.H., Sunday for a dinner with the state Democratic Party.
