Kudlow: Trump’s tax plan ‘a home run’

Larry Kudlow, a CNBC senior contributor who served as an informal economic adviser to President Trump’s campaign, praised the president’s tax reform plan Sunday while cautioning him about GOP divisions in Congress.

“Trump’s announcement on Wednesday, with his new tax reform plan, I thought was terrific,” Kudlow said in an interview with John Catsimatidis that aired on New York’s AM 970.

“I can’t think of anything better for business, better for wage earners, better for economic growth than Trump’s 15 percent tax cut plan … I think it’s a home run,” he added.

Overall, Kudlow maintained that the tax reform plan is a victory for the president despite debate about the measure.

“I know there [were] disputes about it, and there were contradictory statements made in recent weeks, but we won. And I think Trump — this is a terrific victory for the president. He has set a marker on tax reform and economic growth.”

When asked if he thought that Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and other Republicans were now on the same page in Congress, Kudlow replied, “No.”

“I think you are going to see continuous — I won’t use the word struggle, John — there is going to be a lot of back and forth,” he said.

Kudlow argued that the tax cuts are going grow the economy and “pay for themselves over time,” but added that he thinks Ryan disagrees with that notion.

“I think Paul Ryan doesn’t agree with that. I think he needs to rethink his views there,” he maintained.

“But I think this and healthcare will come together. I think there will be agreement … on these issues.”
