Caitlyn Jenner says she is “seriously” considering a run for public office if she decides that she would be most effective serving the LGBT community in such a position.

“Yes, I would have to look, over the next year or two, look and see, can I do a better job on the outside or am I in a position now that I can do a better job for my community on the inside,” Jenner told host Don Lemon on Tuesday on “CNN Tonight,” referring to her foundation as another option for remaining involved.

“And if that’s the case, if I find us on the inside, I would seriously look at it,” she said, referring to public office.

{mosads}Jenner, a reality TV star from the hit series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” came out as a transgender in 2015. She is also a Republican who voted for President Trump, but she expressed a wariness about his decisions that have negatively impacted the LGBT community.

While Jenner said she does not believe it was a mistake to vote for Trump, she said she will stand up to the president and other Republicans and not give them a pass if they “screw up.”

“My loyalties are not with Donald Trump. I will come after him and come after Republicans if they come after my community,” said Jenner. “I’ve got a voice and they better listen, OK? I will come after them.”

Jenner also said Trump has invited her to come play golf, adding that if she did do so, it would be secretly because the LGBT community would disapprove.

“If I was publicly seen with him, my community would go nuts,” Jenner told Lemon.

Jenner, who won a gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics, said fans used to approach her after speaking events and tell her to run for office.

She said she previously discounted running because she had “too many skeletons in my closet” before she came out as a transgender.

When an audience member during the book interview asked whether she would work in the Trump administration, Jenner said she identifies more with the Republican Party because she believes in “limited government.”
