Poll: Most O’Reilly viewers support ending show

The majority of Bill O’Reilly’s viewers support Fox News’s decision to cancel the former anchor’s broadcast, according to a new poll.

Sixty percent say Fox News ending “The O’Reilly Factor” was the “right decision” in a Morning Consult survey released Tuesday.

Thirty percent say the network made “the wrong decision” scrapping O’Reilly’s show amid sexual harassment claims against him.

{mosads}Pollsters also found most of O’Reilly’s viewers see him positively, with 43 percent seeing him “very” favorably and 38 percent “somewhat” favorably.

Eleven percent view O’Reilly “somewhat” unfavorably instead, while 5 percent have a “very” unfavorable impression.

Tuesday’s results additionally discovered 57 percent of “O’Reilly Factor” viewers would watch a new show involving him on a different network.

Thirty percent would not follow O’Reilly from Fox News, while 13 percent had no opinion.

O’Reilly said Monday he is “sad” about exiting television, adding he is “very confident the truth will come out” about sexual harassment claims against him.

21st Century Fox announced last week that O’Reilly would not return to Fox News amid the accusations.

“The O’Reilly Factor” lost about 90 advertisers after The New York Times reported about the claims against O’Reilly earlier this month.

The Times said that five women were paid $13 million to settle sexual harassment suits involving O’Reilly.

Reports emerged last week that O’Reilly is set to receive a payout of up to $25 million after departing from Fox News.

Morning Consult conducted its latest survey of 661 “O’Reilly Factor” viewers via online interviews from April 20 to 24. It did not provide a margin of error.
