Schumer: Flynn news may be ‘tip of the iceberg’

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday said that the House Oversight Committee’s latest findings that former national security adviser Michael Flynn might have broken the law “may be just the tip of the iceberg.”

“The disturbing news that General Flynn may have violated the law in connection with his security clearance may be just the tip of the iceberg,” the lawmaker said in a statement.

{mosads}”These revelations highlight the importance of the intelligence committee working in a bipartisan way to request and receive documents with respect to any financial arrangements Flynn and others in similar positions may have had with foreign governments,” he added.

Two top lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday said that Flynn may have violated the law by receiving money from Russia and Turkey without adequate permission.

“As a former military officer, you simply cannot take money from Russia, Turkey or anybody else,” Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) told reporters.
