Warren on Coulter: ‘Let her speak’
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Monday that the groups protesting conservative firebrand Ann Coulter’s appearances should “let her speak.”
“My view is, let her speak and just don’t show up. If you don’t like it, don’t show up,” Warren told CNN’s Jake Tapper.
Warren added that canceling Coulter’s speech gave the pundit a bigger platform.
“You know, look, Ann Coulter has gotten a bigger platform because someone tried to deny her a chance to speak,” Warren continued.
Warren’s comments come after officials at the University of California, Berkeley canceled a planned Coulter appearance, citing security concerns.
{mosads}On Monday, the student group that invited Coulter filed a federal lawsuit accusing university officials of trying to “to restrict conservative speech” on its campus. The groups also say Coulter will speak at the school.
Berkeley has been in the spotlight in the past few months as multiple violent clashes erupted during appearances of controversial speakers.
