VIDEO: MoveOn urges torture investigation

MoveOn.org has launched the web ad above as part of its campaign to urge Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate the use of torture in the Bush administration.

The ad suggests that while guards may be prosecuted for individual torture acts, those that drafted the policies appear to be getting off without punishment.

“If you torture an individual detainee, you might go to jail,” the narrator says. “But if you authorize an entire secret torture program, you get off scot-free? America is better than this.”

The ad also shows images of Vice President Dick Cheney, John Yoo and Jay Bybee. The latter two represent lawyers on Bush’s legal team that drafted key documents on the use of specific interrogation techniques.

The ad has been sent to the group’s large email list and the group is holding the option of going on air with the ad open.
