will.i.am emails for McAuliffe

Man, Terry McAuliffe is really pulling out all the stops in his run for governor of Virginia. First, Bill Clinton. Now, rapper will.i.am.

will.i.am emailed McAuliffe’s supporters on Tuesday seeking contributions to McAuliffe’s campaign.

“Next week, I’m going to be campaigning through Virginia with Terry,” will.i.am wrote. “At the end of our swing, we’re throwing a blowout event at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington, and I want you to be there.”

“Terry’s been my closest political mentor,” he went on. “More than anyone else, Terry inspired me to get involved in politics and use the power of music to activate a new generation of young people.”

Of course, you may remember will.i.am for his song “yes we can” during last year’s presidential campaign.
