Tesla CEO Musk joining Trump for infrastructure meeting: report

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk will join President Trump and business leaders for an infrastructure meeting on Wednesday, according to Reuters.

Musk, who sits on the president’s Strategic and Policy Forum, has been to the White House several times since Trump has taken office, despite their political differences. Musk is one of the tech leaders who criticized Trump’s initial ban on travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries.

Others in the tech world have taken heat for advising Trump, including Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, who resigned from the president’s advisory group after criticism.

{mosads}Wednesday’s “strategic affairs lunch” comes after Trump promised to ask Congress to move a $1 trillion package to help repair U.S. roads, bridges and airports. But the details of his plan — and how it would be paid for — have yet to come together.

“The time has come for a new program of national rebuilding,” Trump said during his joint address to Congress last week. “To launch our national rebuilding, I will be asking Congress to approve legislation that produces a $1 trillion investment in infrastructure of the United States — financed through both public and private capital — creating millions of new jobs.”

Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and Energy Secretary Rick Perry will reportedly join the White House meeting, along with developer Richard LeFrak, Vornado Realty Trust CEO Steve Roth and Apollo Global Management co-founder Josh Harris.

General Atlantic CEO Bill Ford, McKinsey & Co. partner Tyler Duvall and Lynn Scarlett, a managing director at the Nature Conservancy, will also attend, according to Reuters.
