Trump condemns anti-Semitic threats, vandalism

President Trump opened his joint address to Congress on Tuesday night by condemning the recent spate of bomb threats against Jewish centers and destruction of Jewish cemeteries. 

“Tonight, as we mark the conclusion of our celebration of Black History Month, we are reminded of our Nation’s path toward civil rights and the work that still remains,” he said. 

{mosads}”Recent threats targeting Jewish community centers and vandalism of Jewish cemeteries, as well as last week’s shooting in Kansas City, remind us that while we may be a nation divided on policies, we are a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all its forms.”

In recent days, Jewish centers in Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland and Virginia have been victims of bomb threats, and Jewish cemeteries in Missouri and Philadelphia have been vandalized. 

Trump’s White House condemned the actions Monday after critics spent days calling on the administration to speak up. 

Earlier Tuesday, Pennsylvania’s attorney general told BuzzFeed News that Trump had suggested to him that the vandalism of a Jewish cemetery could have been done by opponents of anti-Semitism looking to “make others look bad.”
