Colorado Republican: If Flynn misled Trump ‘he should step down’

Greg Nash

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) released a statement Monday night casting doubt on national security adviser Michael Flynn’s position.

“As national security advisor, Michael Flynn is responsible to the President, Vice President and the American people. It is his duty to be fully transparent and forthright in his actions — anything less is unacceptable. If in fact he purposely misled the President, he should step down immediately.”

{mosads}Flynn’s future appears uncertain after revelations that he spoke about sanctions with the Russian ambassador before President Trump took office — and then allegedly misled Vice President Pence about it.

Democrats have stepped up their attacks on Flynn and few Republicans have come to his defense. Coffman appears to be the first Republican to question whether he can continue in his current position.
