Jamie Dimon takes White House meeting

Jamie Dimon, chief executive of JPMorgan Chase, was spotted Friday taking a meeting at the White House.

Dimon was seen leaving the West Wing by reporters Friday afternoon. He told the press that he had been meeting with Gary Cohn, who had just become head of President Trump’s National Economic Council after leaving Goldman Sachs, where he had been the firm’s president.

Dimon did not detail the topic of their conversation, but the two men have a history together at the top of Wall Street’s food chain. And both men are also expanding their Washington footprint in a significant way following Trump’s election.

{mosads}Dimon’s named had previously been floated as a possible Treasury secretary for Trump. However, that never moved past the speculation phase, as both sides eventually professed no interest in the arrangement.

In December, Dimon was also named the head of the Business Roundtable, a Washington association that represents some of the biggest businesses in the country.

For his part, Dimon has typically identified himself as a Democrat but has also been a fierce critic of the party on economic policy, particularly when it comes to regulations on the financial sector.
