Chelsea Clinton for Congress?

The seeds are being planted for Chelsea Clinton to run for Congress representing New York, according to a new report.

Clinton would seek the House seat occupied by Rep. Nina Lowey (D-N.Y.) once the lawmaker decides to retire, The New York Post said Thursday.

“While it is true the Clintons need some time to regroup after Hillary’s crushing loss, they will not give up,” a source said of the family’s intentions, referencing Chelsea Clinton’s mother and her loss in Tuesday night’s presidential election.

{mosads}“Chelsea would be the next extension of the Clinton brand,” they added. “In the past few years, she has taken a very visible role in the Clinton Foundation and on the campaign trail.

“While politics isn’t the life Hillary wanted for Chelsea, she chose to go on the campaign trail for her mother and has turned out to be very poised, articulate and comfortable with the visibility.”

The New York Post said Lowey, 79, represents New York’s 17th Congressional District and has spent nearly 30 years in office.

Lowey’s district includes Chappaqua, N.Y., the site of former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton’s home.

The pair in August purchased a $1.16 million home neighboring their residence there, which is intended for Chelsea Clinton, her husband Marc Mezvinsky and their two children, Charlotte and Aidan.

Neither Chelsea Clinton nor Lowey’s office returned comment to the New York Post about the former’s possible Congressional aspirations.
