Bill Kristol hopes Trump ‘far better’ than expected

Conservative commentator Bill Kristol says he hopes President-elect Donald Trump exceeds his expectations in the White House after having fought the businessman’s candidacy as part of the Never Trump movement.

Kristol also urged conservatives who opposed the billionaire to accept his victory gracefully.

{mosads}Trump astounded the world Tuesday by winning the Oval Office over Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The results were not just an achievement for Trump but the GOP’s down-ballot ticket, too, with the party keeping its House and Senate majorities.

Kristol emerged as a vocal critic of Trump during the Republican presidential primaries, repeatedly challenging the billionaire’s conservative bona fides.

The Weekly Standard editor did not relent once Trump won the GOP’s presidential nomination, arguing he remained unfit for the presidency.

The businessman remained firm that his grassroots supporters would vault him to the presidency, calling it a “movement” that would upend the status quo.

Trump’s victory Tuesday night capped off a remarkable general election bid from the political rookie, who overcame Clinton, a veteran public servant.
