Iowa poll: Trump holds 7-point lead over Clinton
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has opened up a 7-point lead over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the battleground state of Iowa, according to a new poll.
Trump leads Clinton, 46 percent to 39 percent, among those who have already voted or plan to on Tuesday, according to the Des Moines Register poll released Saturday.
{mosads}Another 6 percent support Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein draws 1 percent support.
Trump is supported by 41 percent of independents surveyed, while Clinton has 34 percent. And Trump leads 43 percent to 38 percent among voters under age 35.
Other polls have indicated a tight race in Iowa. A survey from Loras College released earlier Saturday found Clinton leading the GOP nominee by just 1 point, 44 percent to 43 percent.
The Des Moines Register poll of 800 likely Iowa voters was conducted Nov. 1–4 by Selzer and Co. and has a margin of error of 3.5 points.
