Ryan offers to appear at Trump rally as it gets canceled: report

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) reportedly offered to join the GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump at an event this weekend that has since been cancelled.

Ryan indicated he would attend the the rally planned for Sunday afternoon in West Allis, Wis.

{mosads}”We don’t know if it’s scheduled firm or not yet, but I intend to do it if he’s here,” Ryan told reporters Saturday, according to The Cap Times.

“Here’s the point: we’re going from here to Mukwonago to go campaign with Mike Pence. So everybody’s schedule is a little bit in flux in these closing moments, but if our nominee comes, we’ll campaign with him,” Ryan added.

According to the report, a few moments later a Trump spokesperson in Wisconsin said that the event Sunday was cancelled due to a schedule conflict.

Ryan sources also told Fox News on Saturday that the Speaker offered to appear alongside the GOP nominee at the event.

Trump and Ryan were set to share the stage together once before in October. However, that joint appearance was scrapped shortly after the release of a 2005 Access Hollywood hot mic tape on which Trump was heard remarking about grabbing women.

Ryan later said he would no longer defend Trump in light of the comments on tape, leading to Trump going after the Speaker’s leadership on Twitter.

Ryan said earlier this week that he cast an early vote for Trump as the businessman has seen his support rise in polls heading into Election Day.
