Report: Christie backs out of Trump rally after Bridgegate verdicts
Chris Christie has reportedly backed out of a campaign appearance for Donald Trump after two of the New Jersey governor’s allies were convicted Friday over their roles in the 2013 George Washington Bridge lane closures.
An NH1 reporter tweeted that Christie would no longer be stumping for the GOP presidential nominee at a rally in New Hampshire on Saturday:

The New Jersey governor was also scheduled to attend a Trump rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Democrats have called on Christie to resign as the head of Trump’s transition team in the wake of the verdicts for Bill Baroni, a Christie appointee to the Port Authority of New York, and former Christie deputy chief of staff Bridget Kelly.
Both were convicted of charges that included conspiracy, fraud and civil rights deprivation for their roles in the 2013 lane closures that were orchestrated to get payback at one of Christie’s political foes.
