Melania Trump to give first speech since convention

Melania Trump is set to make a rare appearance on the campaign trail Thursday to talk about her “real American story.”

{mosads}Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s wife, who was born in what is now Slovenia, will speak at Main Line Sports Center in Berwyn, Pa., the campaign announced Wednesday.

“Melania Trump will address the American people to get out the vote and share what a Trump Administration’s vision would be like for American women, children and families,” the campaign said in a statement.

The speech was originally announced Sunday, but details on venue and subject matter were not provided at first.

“Melania Trump will also speak about her real American story as well as the kind of dedicated, strong and committed First Lady she will be for the country she loves so much.”

It will be Melania’s first public speaking engagement since the Republican National Convention, where she faced backlash for plagiarizing portions of the speech first lady Michelle Obama delivered to the Democratic National Convention in 2008.

Melania has since been a rarity on the campaign trail, saying in the past she wants to stay at home and care for the couple’s 10-year-old son, Barron.

The GOP nominee said last week that Melania would give “two or three speeches” before the campaign’s end.

“She’s amazing when she speaks. She is an amazing public speaker. So she’s agreed to do two or three speeches, and I think it’s going to be big speeches, important speeches. I think it’s going to be great,” Trump said.
