Trump camp: ‘Rigged’ talk is speaking for ‘forgotten man’

Donald Trump’s campaign manager says the GOP presidential nominee is speaking of “the forgotten man” when he talks about the election being rigged.

{mosads}On NBC’s “Today” Wednesday, host Savannah Guthrie asked Kellyanne Conway why Trump continues to tell his supporters that the elections are rigged while the polls show him losing to Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“On the rigged corrupt system, he’s talking about people being left behind. He’s talking about the forgotten man, the forgotten woman, that the system does not work for them,” Conway said.

Trump has in recent weeks claimed that the election is rigged against him, citing fears of voter fraud and alleging media collaboration to hurt him.

Conway said Trump’s supporters agree with his claims that the system works against them.

“They agree, or we wouldn’t even be competitive in this race,” Conway said.

“Seventy-five percent of Americans want to take the country in a new and different direction. He is their voice.”

Asked whether Trump’s backers will be angry if the GOP nominee loses the election, Conway demurred.

“The Trump supporters, if they’re angry at anything, it’s angry at Washington. It’s angry at Wall Street,” she said.

“It’s angry at the fact that they’re now opening up their mailboxes, as I sit here, and they’re getting whacked with these premium increases.”
