Conway: ObamaCare premium hikes will draw voters to Trump

Voters will be drawn to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as they find their ObamaCare premiums rising, Trump’s campaign manager said Wednesday.

“Women are being told one thing on the air as to what this election is about and then they’re opening up their mailboxes and they’re getting whacked with these ObamaCare premiums increasing,” Kellyanne Conway told “CBS This Morning.”

{mosads}Federal data released Monday showed that the price of the most popular plan under ObamaCare will increase by an average of 25 percent on the federal marketplace next year.

Trump and other Republicans have jumped on the news this week, hammering Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and others in her party over their support for ObamaCare.

Trump has targeted the healthcare law repeatedly, saying at a Monday rally in Florida that “Americans are going to experience yet another double-digit spike in your premium for ObamaCare, and it doesn’t work.”

Conway noted that discontent about ObamaCare helped the GOP take control of the House in 2010 and the Senate in 2014.

“This is really one of the major issues of this campaign. In 2010 and 2014, Republicans won big majorities in the House, the Senate, the governorships, mainly based on ObamaCare,” she said.

Clinton leads Trump by 4.2 points nationwide, according to a RealClearPolitics polling average.
