During Wednesday’s presidential debate, Hillary Clinton needled Donald Trump for his lack of government experience, contrasting their two records and attempting to characterize him as only out for himself.
{mosads}The Democratic nominee noted her past work for the Children’s Defense Fund, her work reforming schools in Arkansas and her speech about women’s rights at the United Nations while noting that during the same 30-year period, Trump faced a fair housing lawsuit from the Justice Department and insulted a former Miss Universe.
“On the day I was in the Situation Room monitoring the raid that brought Osama bin Laden to justice, he was hosting the ‘Celebrity Apprentice,'” Clinton said of her Republican rival.
“I am happy to compare my 30 years of experience, what I’ve done for this country, trying to help in every way I could … with your 30 years.”
Trump pushed back on the accusation, arguing that he “did a much better job” in his career than Clinton did. And he blasted Clinton for sugar-coating her record.
“When you look at her real record, take a look at Syria, take a look at at the migration, take a look at Libya, take a look at Iraq,” Trump said.
“She gave us [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria] because her and Obama created this huge vacuum and a small group came out of that huge vacuum. We never should have been in Iraq, but once we were in there, we never should have gotten out the way we got out.”
