Trump ad knocks Clinton over ‘superpredator’ remark
Donald Trump’s campaign on Wednesday released a new ad slamming Hillary Clinton for her past use of the word “superpredators” to describe young black criminals the 1990s.
Trump’s 30-second ad, titled “Predators,” will air in markets in New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to his campaign. It comes as he and Clinton take to the stage for their third and final debate Wednesday night in Las Vegas, Nev.
{mosads}”They are often the kinds of kids that are called ‘superpredators.’ No conscience. No empathy,” Clinton is saying in a clip included in the ad, with text framing her comments as describing “African American youth.”
The ad also highlights Clinton’s comments from her primary fight against Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), saying of his supporters, “Some are new to politics completely…and they are living in their parents’ basement.”
“That is a mindset that is really affecting their politics,” she says.
Trump’s ad also goes after Clinton for characterizing half of Trump’s supporters as falling into a “basket of deplorables.” The Democratic nominee later expressed regret for saying “half” of the GOP nominee’s supporters could be classified in that way.
“Super predators. Basement dwellers. Deplorables,” the ad says in text at the end. “What elitist arrogance. Say NO to Hillary Clinton.”
Bruce Levell, executive director of the national diversity coalition for Trump, said in a statement that Clinton’s “outbursts expose what she really thinks about the American people.”
“A candidate who calls African Americans ‘Super Predators,’ cannot be expected to look after our community, let alone the entire nation,” Levell said.
Campaign spokesman Jason Miller told CNN this week the campaign is planning to stick to the plans it announced at the end of September to air $100 million in ads in the remaining seven weeks of the campaign.
