Missouri poll: Trump up 5, Blunt up just 2

Donald Trump has extended his lead over Hillary Clinton in Missouri to 5 points, according to a new survey of likely voters there.

Trump leads Clinton 46 to 41 percent, according to the latest Monmouth University poll released Wednesday, while 5 percent support Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson, 2 percent back Green Party candidate Jill Stein and 5 percent are undecided.

{mosads}Trump and Clinton were virtually tied in the poll in August, when Trump had 44 percent and Clinton had 43 percent.

The latest survey found that white women are evenly split, with Trump and Clinton drawing 42 percent apiece, while 62 percent of white men support Trump. Clinton also continues to hold a whopping 68-point lead among non-white voters.

Seventy percent of those surveyed said they were not surprised by Trump’s lewd remarks in an audio tape from 2005 leaked last week, while 5 percent of likely voters in Missouri said they were shocked by the tape.

The Missouri poll also shows a tight battle over the Senate seat held by Republican Roy Blunt.

Blunt holds a narrow 2-point lead over his Democratic challenger, Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, 46-44 percent. The race has tightened since August, when Blunt led by 5 points, according to the Monmouth poll.

The latest survey of 406 likely Missouri voters was conducted Oct. 9-11 via landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of 4.9 percent.
