Sheryl Sandberg: I wouldn’t leave Facebook for Clinton Cabinet

Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg is pushing back against rumors that she will join a Hillary Clinton administration if the Democrat is elected to the White House in November.

“I’m staying at Facebook,” Sandberg said during a Tuesday conference hosted by the Internet Association, a trade group that includes the social media company.

{mosads}She has long held that she is content with her role at Facebook and has no plans to leave in the near future.

But that has not stopped speculation about whether she has future designs on working in government.

Sandberg has endorsed Clinton and has been mentioned as a possible candidate for a Cabinet post.

In September, Politico reported that Sandberg’s stock was rising in the race to become the next Treasury secretary.

Before moving to Silicon Valley, Sandberg worked at the World Bank and as chief of staff to then-Treasury Secretary Larry Summers.

On Tuesday, Sandberg said her interest in staying in the private sector doesn’t mean she does not see government as important.

“I think the issues that we’re here to talk about, which are the issues around policy, matter. So government matters,” she said. “I don’t have a job in the private sector thinking government doesn’t matter — it does.”

The Facebook COO is the author of “Lean In,” a book about empowering women in the workplace.
