Sanders: Forget about Clinton’s unpopularity

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) urged voters Thursday to forget about Hillary Clinton’s unpopularity and focus on the Democratic presidential nominee’s agenda.

“I read the polls. I understand that neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump are particularly popular. I get that,” Sanders said at a rally in Dearborn, Mich., on behalf of Clinton — the first of four scheduled events in the state.

{mosads}”But forget about that for a moment,” he continued. “Take a hard look at the agendas of the campaign, what these candidates stand for.”

“This campaign is not about Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. It is about you and your families and your kids,” Sanders said, touting Clinton’s policy goals.

Sanders said the election shouldn’t be “a personality contest,” arguing it should instead be about the “survival of the American middle class.”

The independent Vermont senator spent the majority of his speech hammering Trump’s business record and calling on the Republican presidential nominee to manufacture his signature products in the U.S.
