Stein attempts to mock Johnson after foreign leader gaffe
Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein on Thursday appeared to mock Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson by naming in a series of tweets some of her own favorite leaders.
{mosads}”Here are a few of my favorite leaders: @ElizabethMay, João Stédile of @MST_Oficial and @jeremycorbyn. #AleppoMoment,” Stein tweeted Thursday.
The Green Party nominee’s list, however, did not include the names of foreign leaders who actually have held the top position in their respective countries.
In subsequent tweets, Stein — who trails Johnson in polls as the two try to convince voters there is an alternative to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump — continued to name more leaders whom she respects.
“Berta Cáceres was one of my favorite world leaders, but killed as a result of [former President Bill] Clinton’s coup in Honduras. #AleppoMoment,” Stein tweeted.
“The late Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai founded the Mazingira Green Party in Kenya and was an inspiration to us all.”
Johnson on Wednesday joked he had another “Aleppo moment” when he struggled to name a single living foreign leader he admires.
During a town hall event Wednesday, Johnson was pressed to name any foreign leader “of any country in any continent” that he respects.
