Clinton up 3 points in post-debate poll
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton saw a small bump following the first presidential debate, a new poll released early Wednesday shows.
{mosads}The Politico/Morning Consult poll finds Clinton with 41 percent support among likely voters nationally and GOP nominee Donald Trump with 38 percent in a four-way matchup.
Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson gets 8 percent support in that poll, while Jill Stein of the Green Party has 4 percent.
Before the debate, Trump had a 1-point lead in the same poll.
Nearly half of those surveyed also viewed Clinton as the winner of Monday night’s debate.
Forty-nine percent said Clinton won, while 26 percent said Trump won. Eighteen percent of Republicans said Clinton won.
Of those surveyed, 72 percent watched the debate, and 55 percent of those viewers watched the entire thing, the poll finds.
Half of those polled said they would watch the debate again.
Forty-two percent said debate moderator Lester Holt was impartial. Another 27 percent said he was more favorable to Clinton, and 2 percent said he favored Trump.
The poll was conducted Monday and Tuesday among 1,253 likely voters and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
