Rasmussen Poll: Trump leads Clinton by 5 nationwide

Donald Trump is 5 points ahead of Hillary Clinton nationwide, according to a new poll by a conservative-leaning group.

Republican presidential nominee has 44 percent support to the Democrat’s 39 percent, Rasmussen Reports found Thursday.

{mosads}Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson has 8 percent, with Green Party nominee Jill Stein at 2 percent.

Last week’s version of the Rasmussen poll featured a closer race, with Trump topping Clinton by 2 points nationwide.

Most polls show Clinton still leading the national race, although Trump has made significant gains in recent weeks.

The RealClearPolitics polling average shows Clinton ahead by about one point. The average showed Clinton ahead by more than seven points in August.

Rasmussen Reports conducted its latest poll of 1,000 likely voters via online and telephone interviews from Sept. 20 to 21. It has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
