Clinton: Americans ‘will prevail’ against attacks

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Monday urged Americans to stay strong in the face of attacks that struck cities across the U.S. over the weekend and to reject any divisive rhetoric coming from her Republican rival about Muslim Americans. 

{mosads}Speaking to reporters from White Plains, N.Y., Clinton also called for giving more support to state and local law enforcement so they can find and stop attacks before they happen. 

“This threat is real, but so is our resolve. Americans will not cower. We will prevail. We will defend our country and defeat the evil,” Clinton said. 

New York City police Monday identified a suspect in the bombing that injured 29 people Saturday.

He is also wanted for a bombing in New Jersey earlier that day. 

And the man who stabbed nine people at a Minnesota mall Saturday was a “soldier of the Islamic State,” according to media linked with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. 

But Clinton cautioned against profiling innocent Americans. 

“There are are millions of law-abiding, peaceful Muslim Americans,” Clinton said. 

“Let’s remember 9/11, these were not refugees who got into airplanes and attacked our city and our country.” 

Clinton also chided Trump for not having or discussing any serious plans to counter terrorism. 

“The facts are pretty clear. We still have challenges. That what I have been talking about throughout this campaign. I am prepared and ready to actually take on those challenges,” Clinton said. 

“You don’t hear a plan from [Trump]. He keeps saying he has a secret plan. Well, the secret is he has no plan.”
