Hannity fires back at ‘puppy dog barking to protect’ Trump portrayal

Sean Hannity and Jonah Goldberg took to Twitter after the National Review columnist called the Fox News host a “puppy barking to protect” Donald Trump in a recent column.

{mosads}Hannity late Tuesday lashed out at Goldberg, saying that “[you] own it” if Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton wins in November.

Goldberg hit back Wednesday morning, mocking Hannity’s credibility.

Hannity then dismissed Goldberg’s criticism of Trump, highlighting the billionaire’s policy positions.

Hannity supports Trump’s presidential campaign and frequently praises the businessman during his Fox News broadcasts.

Goldberg last weekend lambasted the talking head for attacking conservatives who insist they cannot back Trump.

“The fury Sean brings to this shtick is really quite … adorable,” Goldberg wrote on Sept. 3. “It’s like a puppy barking to protect its master from a parked car or a small child vowing to vanquish all of his enemies with a plastic sword.

“As he ratchets up the rhetoric in order to establish his ‘stabbed in the back’ excuse after the election, there’s an almost ‘Come on! I’m really serious you guys!’ feel to the whole thing.”

Trump became the Republican presidential nominee earlier this year after an at-times bitter primary with 16 other candidates.

Some conservatives have since vowed never to back him.

Critics say their position could help elect Clinton by splitting the GOP’s base this November.
