What really needs to change? The Trump campaign or Trump himself?

It is typical to expect campaigns to experience ups and downs. From a historical perspective, you wouldn’t find one historian who could name a perfect campaign, but there are some that have made more mistakes than others.

A mere analysis of the Trump campaign would reveal several grave mistakes that could have and likely should have been avoided. Only time will tell how catastrophic those mistakes will prove to Mr. Trump’s bid for the highest office in the land. However, one thing is certain, and that is the realization by either Mr. Trump or his top aides that something must change.

{mosads}Today’s revelation that Mr. Trump is making major changes to his campaign proves that the candidate is concerned about the direction of his campaign, and ultimately what that direction means for his bid to the White House.

Trump must have felt as if he was being managed rather than managing of late. Now, it seems he is poised to return to the scorched earth tactics that swept away all of his rivals during the primary process.

Many experts will quickly point out that what works for the primary season is null and void for the General Election. However, in 2016, campaign conventional wisdom has consistently been 30 laps behind in its forecasting. Only time will prove if Mr. Trump can rise again and recapture the trust that is necessary to overcome an insurmountable Clinton lead, a lead reflected in all recent polling data.

Perhaps these are the changes Mr. Trump needs, but than again after he fired Corey Lewandowski, his former campaign manager, many expected changes that all but fell short of expectation. Is this the change that will right the wrongs and many failures of the past for the Trump campaign?

I’m not sure, but I certainly will be a casual spectator like the rest, watching and waiting to see what happens next.
