Trump again received tax credit for those making under $500K: report
Records filed with the New York City finance department over the weekend indicate that Donald Trump once again received a property tax credit for those making $500,000 year or less, Crain’s New York Business reported Monday.
Trump’s city property tax bill, published June 3, states that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee received a $304 credit for his Trump Tower penthouse under the New York State School Tax Relief Program, also known as the STAR program. Married couples are eligible for a STAR tax credit if they make $500,000 or less in a year.
{mosads}Crain’s previously reported that Trump has received the STAR credit for several years. At the time, Trump’s campaign manager told the news outlet that the city made an error and a mayor’s office spokeswoman agreed there was a mistake.
The city finance department told Crain’s that it checks with state tax authorities to ensure that those receiving STAR credits meet the income requirements.
Trump reported in a financial disclosure form last month that he has a net worth of more than $10 billion. Some have raised doubts about Trump’s wealth, particularly because he has refused to release his tax returns.
