Trump encourages Rubio to reclaim Senate seat

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Thursday encouraged Sen. Marco Rubio, his former rival for the nomination, to run for reelection in Florida.

Trump said in a tweet that Rubio had the best chance to win the seat.

{mosads}Rubio opted not to run for reelection in order to focus on his now-suspended presidential bid, but Republicans have recently pleaded with him to reconsider, worried Democrats could win the seat. 

The two had a contentious relationship during the primary, with Rubio calling Trump a con man and Trump repeatedly referring to the senator as “Little Marco.”

But earlier Thursday, Rubio said that he would be willing to speak on behalf of Trump at the Republican National Convention in July in Cleveland.
