Early Voting in NYC
I waited over an hour to vote in New York City today. The Board of Elections has had such a large turnout, they’ve had to extend their office hours this week to 9 p.m. One of the poll workers told me that she’s never seen anything like this in “all her years.” She wasn’t young.
Four years ago, when I voted early for John Kerry, it only took 10 minutes and there didn’t seem to be much excitement in the room. Today, the elevator was packed with people talking about where they were heading for Election Day. In one car alone we had people heading to Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida and New Hampshire.
Obama’s grassroots organization is on a different scale than any campaign prior. He has set a new gold standard.
