Scott Brown reportedly endorsing Trump
Scott Brown is expected to endorse Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, The Washington Post reports.
The former Massachusetts senator, who unsuccessfully ran for Senate in New Hampshire two years ago, will endorse Trump at a campaign rally Tuesday night in the Granite State, according to the report.
{mosads}The endorsement would come a day after Trump lost to Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) in the Iowa caucuses, where the real estate mogul was polling several points ahead of Cruz leading into Monday night’s voting.
The Post noted that Brown remains a popular figure among establishment Republicans, a key voting group in the Granite State, where Trump has led by wide margins in polls with a bottleneck for second place.
Brown’s backing would also represent the first time a current or former senator has officially endorsed Trump, a reality TV star and billionaire who has positioned himself as a political outsider in the 2016 race.
Brown, who has more recently served as a contributor to Fox News, appeared at a Trump rally last month during which Trump floated him as a potential vice presidential pick.
